The fourth round of the Serious Games Award event, with the aim of researching, producing and promoting serious games, was held online in collaboration with Allameh Tabatabai University on the 23,24 of December 2020, and all programs were broadcast live from AparatGame. A total of 1,132 viewers watched the event on the first day and 693 on the second day. During this period, in addition to digital games, with a broader view of targeted entertainment, the event sponsored other serious entertainment such as board games, gamification and simulators.

According to the public relations of “National Computer Games Foundation”, this event was held in the form of three separate events, including the “Serious Games Festival of 2020”, the “Serious Games Hackathon 2020, and the “International Symposium of Serious Games of 2020”. The Serious Games Award 2020, as in previous events, with more than 7 billion Rials in cash prize, commercialization facilities and the creation of a large network of sponsors and partners, provided an opportunity to participate in the growth of serious games in the country.

  • In the serious game festival section, out of a total of 75 submitted works, 6 works made it to the final. On the final day, after presenting it online to the judges, and the serious game of the year was selected.
  • The Serious Games Symposium section was held with 6 lectures: international professors, interviews with the managers and supervisors of the top laboratories for making serious games and presenting papers.
  • The Hackathon section of Serious Games was held online for the first time on December 10-12, due to the pandemic conditions and health protocols. In addition to Tehran, this event was hosted by Tabriz and Isfahan on behalf of the National Computer Games Foundation and was attended by medical, psychological and technical mentors online. Hackathon participants competed with teams in their province by choosing one of the topics "Covid-19 Prevention", "Covid-19 Patient Care" and "Covid-19 Lifestyle" with the financial support of the Deputy Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs.

At the end of the event, the winners of the Serious Games 2020 were awarded in all three categories.
